A riveting tale of greed, deception, and murder in a small community of singular Texas characters. Indian Creek isn’t urban nor suburban, and it’s not exactly rural. It’s one of those in betwixt zones that slides in among them and takes its characteristics from all three.
Jude Atkins places us smack dab in the middle of this hard drinking flotsam in society’s stream. The social center of the community appears to be the Hideaway Bar where Anna, everyone’s favorite drunk, holds forth with a surly attitude and lashing tongue. Then, when Anna turns up murdered, there is no shortage of suspects.
This is a great read, one you hate to put down even to eat. I hope and suspect this will not be the last we’ll see of these Indian Creek folks. You may not want to invite them to your house, but they’re fascinating people to read about. Reviewed by Don Johnson, author of Brasada, A Texas Elegy, The Scion, Compulsion
BETRAYING MIKKI is full of surprises. Author Jude Atkins knows how to handle characters and build drama and suspense. Will there be another death, or will all survive? I was almost to the end before I figured out who murdered Alex. Pick up BETRAYING MIKKI, then sit back and enjoy a tightly plotted whodunit. Vi Janaway, Romance Reviews Today

Anna’s Secret by Jude Atkins is a mystifying tale with several twists and turns and an ending that surprised me. This book has an old-fashioned detective story feel to it that is charming and complements the small town atmosphere ... the story had a good flow, with well fleshed out characters and I would look forward to reading more suspense from this author. 4 Angels! ANNA’S SECRET has enough bends and splinters to throw a reader into a quandary trying to figure out who is the guilty party. It was certainly a surprise to me. Jude Atkins has created a taut, sad, well-written story that keeps everyone guessing. She has a style suited to telling suspense stories. If you are in the mood for a whodunit, I recommend ANNA’S SECRET. Vi Janaway Romance Reviews Today

Anna's Secret is an absorbing book. Though the action flows well, . . . Ms. Atkins deserves accolades for combining a spine-tingling story carefully with Texas style humor and family dynamics. The Texas series starts with a bang with Anna's Secret and I sure hope I would re-visit these characters in the upcoming installments. Don’t miss this one!
