Based on the legend of Jay's Grave, Mary's Child is a tale of love and courage

When Mary Jay is incarcerated in the workhouse after the death of her mother, it isn't until sixteen years later that she is apprenticed out to the Bennett's farm on Dartmoor. She has no idea it is only a few miles from where she was born, or that the man who darkened her mother's life, will threaten her own.

Her life becomes entangled with Leah Underwood's--Leah, who experiences the 'dark rider' as Mary thinks of him, in quite a different way, and who seems mesmerized by him. This, despite that he carelessly tosses her aside when she displeases him. His displeasure goes further, reaching its dark tentacles into the next generation, where it threatens to destroy more lives, including that of Kitty Underwood, Leah's daughter.

Kitty enrages him further by trying to save two friends from his wrath, but in turn, this leads to a startling discovery about her birth. Her fear changes to rage, and she avenges the dreadful wrong done to her mother.

What could be more alarming than a ferry going astray and people can't get home to their dinners? Imagine the chaos, the frustration! Yet, that event is nothing compared to what the Gale Island psychic and astrologer predicts for her clients when writing to warn them about an upcoming cosmic event.
Covering up, Busby Barratt, president of the West Coast Ferry Corporation, tells a pesky newspaperman that the erring ferry was really a trial for future mystery tours. He knows if Pug Snood, the owner/ founder of the WCFC, discovers it was really a sabotage attempt, he'll fire him for incompetence. Either way, Barratt is going to be in deep doggy-do if Pug sees the article. In a panic, he phones Millicent, Pug's wife, asking her to hide it.

Easier said than done for poor Millicent. She's already suffering from Pug overload since he retired a year ago and is sick of lying to keep the peace. She's fed up with living according to the hundred-hour clock and having her every movement shadowed like a faithful dog.

The unfortunate thing is, Pug isn't faithful, and as the influence of Uranus and Pluto grow greater and expose more of his clandestine affairs, Millicent is driven to distraction--at least to drive on the wrong side of the road. Through this event she makes friends with an island therapist, Hannah, and with Hannah's support, makes a few changes in her life, including adding a little spice in the way of the dashing young lawyer, Chance McColl.

THE WINNOWED WOMAN:

In this book of journal entries, essays and poems, we embark on one woman's journey that is at first bitter and agonizing. Then, as we travel through her outbursts of disbelief, denial and resentment; while we empathize with her as she delves into childhood memories she'd rather forget, we begin to see how she's learning to move on to build a new life out of the fragments of the old.
The Winnowed Woman speaks to those who have faced similar circumstances. It will help them to discover self identity and find inner peace, rather than continue on the soul-destructive wheel of continuous mourning.
