House on the Bluff:
When the guests started disappearing one or two at a time they knew then the house, its uninvited and mysterious guests, held them in their grip.
Believing they were being held captive by the house, to the land surrounding it, and to the bay beyond, they felt they had no choice but to see where it would all lead.
The unnerving feeling of always being watched crept over them; that creepy-hair-rising feeling something, somewhere, monitoring their every move was waiting.
Waiting for what? To catch them off guard, to whisk them away to a place from which would never return?
Throughout history, scholars, anthropologists, historians and adventurers have written numerous stories about lost continents and ancient civilizations. Some from a historical view, others from speculation, and perhaps from written works that were handed down from one generation to another.
This novel is a work of fiction based on the premise of "What If?" What if what they say is true that a little more than 12,000 years ago a large continent, with all its sacred temples, palaces, centers of Law, ceremonial altars and citizens, vanished in a vortex of fire and water and sank beneath the depths of the Pacific taking 64,000,000 souls with it, and that the Hawaiian Islands stand as pathetic fingers to a once proud continent?
If so, then what if now, in this present time, these islands are unknowingly keeping watch over a silent grave, where it has been resting for centuries undisturbed, so deep within the shadows of the Pacific, waiting? -- until Trisha.
After having been left for dead twice due to heavy enemy barrages; his half-track blown up by a German mine; trapped and paralyzed inside the vehicle for hours, along with two other seriously injured soldiers; bleeding internally; the ground quaking beneath him and his ribcage being pounded from the tremendous air
concussions from enemy bombardment engulfing them; his bootless bleeding feet, swollen, frozen, and cut; a broken nose from a flying German helmet which was still attached to the head it belonged to; and suffering from Combat Fatigue, Private "Boston Blackie" endured the worst possible insult, being betrayed by the very Army he fought and almost died for.
For 125 non-stop days in the Hells of War, with no food, no relief, frozen in Europe's worst winter, he along with his Regiment and his entire unit received: the Presidential Unit Citation, The Belgium and French Croix de Guerre's, plus three Campaign Battle Stars among others. He also earned The Combat Infantryman's Badge with a Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star for killing 78 enemy combatants and taking 129 Germans prisoners; was put in for the Purple Heart for his injuries and his Lieutenant put him in for the Silver Star, for saving the lives of his men.
He achieved all this, and yet, those non-combatant officers who held the power of life and death in their hands used it mercilessly against our own combat soldiers. These non-combatant officers who hid from the terrible and horrific reality of war - using their desks as a shield to keep far away from the front lines - proved their cowardliness in the stark vengeance they perpetrated against honored soldiers of war! They earned the name of dishonor and disgrace by those who tasted the hell of battle and survived, they called them: "Chicken....!"
A 111-year-old mystery - people who vanished ten years before the new millennium - the first space-exploration starship, Earth Star-I, lost in deep space fifty-one years later - Is there a connection between these unexplained disappearances and a village situated along the rocky coast of New England, a place out of time, called Sarah's Landing?
Joshua Morgan, the Astronaut/Biologist scratched from the ill-fated flight, searching for answers, is unaware his quest will take him to the far reaches of space and to an alien planet no one knew existed. Joshua's love for two different woman on world's light years apart, results in the birth of sons - siblings - one from the alien planet, one from Earth, both empowered with mind-linking capabilities.
This was the day Abigail was waiting for — the arrival of the schooner
Abigail with her first guests at the grand opening of her Inn on Adam’s
Point. It had stood uninhabited for centuries, yet to this day, its
beauty and elegance can only be described as ageless and unspoiled. Her
husband, Ethan, with his friend, Tony, the town’s sheriff, had picked up
the guests at the pier at Caleb Cove and were bringing them to the Inn
by sea.
A strange odyssey befell every guest during their stay at the Inn. Each
day brought new challenges, new mysteries and new apprehension. And the
nights, well, the nights were especially baffling. What transpired
during their sleep not only caught them off guard, but shook the very
depths of their souls wondering if they would ever see the light of day
again. They had climbed into their beds to rest, only to discover upon
awakening their sleep was not what they expected. Nor was it something
they wanted to talk about — that is, not all of them.
All they knew was their recent strange journeys and experiences, brought
them to the conclusion: It is much safer off shore aboard the schooner
"Abigail" during a violent storm, than to be on dry land on a sunny day,
when "The House" wavers into its unknown and unstable dimensions.
The strange spirits who, without rhyme or reason, or so much as a 'by your leave', had suddenly inhabited The House On The Bluff and caused a multitude of problems. It was not only that people were disappearing, which heightened their trepidation, but the menacing, almost threatening manifestations it showered on the human residents, while relegating the "harmless" spiritual entities into their own inescapable prison. A prison, which was so deep within the recesses of the house, they apparently couldn't or didn't dare attempt to escape or leave. The new entities had taken control of the Inn On Adam's Point and were bound and determined to bring everyone into its clutches. But Jacob, one of the resident spirits, did try to break the hold that bound him and his compatriots only to fail in his attempt to warn Ethan, Abigail and or Tony.
It all began with a newspaper article in a major local paper. According
to the article, a woman sold a book she had written as "property" to a
movie producer, and as a result, a new nighttime television series was
born. Two local women, having read this article and believing in its
validity, were hoping for an avenue to open up for their talents through
a mutual contact, since they were both involved with writing and
producing a musical stage play. With the addition of their artist
friend, the imposter led them down a twisted path of well-placed lies
and acts of deception This clever imposter had beguiled professionals
and novices alike at their own disciplines.
A small sleepy New England village is suddenly thrust on an unintended journey to a place before time began. A devastating flood bearing down on the unsuspecting village devastates a neighborhood. When the waters finally subside, a strange object — a probe — emerges from the depths of a sinkhole. Two young brothers inadvertently activate its teleportation system sending the town and its unconscious citizens soaring towards a dead planet drifting in space. Eons ago, its twin suns were on the verge of colliding. In a desperate effort for survival probes were sent from the stricken planet through time to the far reaches of the Universe.
When the people of the tiny village of Oakville awaken they will
discover that the incident that befell their town would soon become a
